Comtemplation & Promise: Eliminating animals from my diet….

Interesing enough, I have had some noticeable issues with my diet of lately. I feel bloated, sluggish and unhealthy. Prior to feeling this way, I had taken on the commitment to change the way I eat and follow a clean eating lifestyle.  I was doing really well - more energy, not hungry, brighter eyes and skin.  My diet was loaded with complex carbs, lean protein, and grains.  Then I started running out of food. I can’t go grocery shopping until the end of this week, so I have to stretch what I have for 3 more days……At the end of last week, I added red meat to my diet; only meat left in the freezer.  Mistake #1.  Immediately, the next day my work day felt like a 14 hour day.  I’m felt sleepy all day. I had no energy for exercise. Then my hubby decided he was going to treat us out - so we went to a great little Thai “fast food” restaurant.  So for 2 days we went to this restaurant because I really liked one of their dishes - that had breaded chicken, which I’m sure was fried. Have I mentioned my hair looks dull & I’m constipated…..ahhh!

So today is Tuesday and boy am I feeling it.  I took a pledge to be vegetarian for 30 days today.  (Granted, I made this pledge after eating a tuna sandwich from Subway.)  I didn’t think I would realize such a change in my body so quickly, but I did.  Meat and animal products do not mix well with my body. I had also upped my consumption of diary - remember I’m down in the grocery department.

So for the rest of today, I’m sticking to my pledge and learning to re-focus my efforts on giving my body (and my family) better food. Learning to stop revolving my life around food is another goal -but eating 6 times a day is a bit hard. What’s great about clean eating (minus the meat) is that both my husband and my daughter love how much food we are eating. Men love more food!  Kids love snacking all day - at least mine does.

Follow me through my journey and Feb 29th I hope to be singing the happy tunes of a healthy and meatless diet!
