Spirit Killer gets only 10 years!

So what to make of the very thing that makes me sick!  San Antonio had its own article about slime balls who sell humans for sex!  Read about it at http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/metro/stories/MYSA022508.pleadeal.en.29c247ef.html

Only 10 years! There should have been no “choice” in the matter, as the girls involved didn’t have a choice as to whether they wanted to be sex slaves. Scum!  I hate the justice system. I hate the fact that teenage girls will forever be scarred and will always remember this time in their life.  Those involved (including the scornful women) should get life in prison for -thinking, contemplating, trying, stealing, forcing, threatening, assisting and facilitating- the demise of the girls human spirit.

Just like I think people who tailgate me in traffic should be charged with attempted murder. Get off my bumper!  They know that if I have to break all of sudden, slow down, etc. they will ram into the back of my car - therefore they knowingly and willingly participate in the endangerment of human beings- with the intention of hurting a human with a deadly weapon, their car!

Human Trafficking

I have always had a real hard time with this issue.  I absolutely hate and loathe people who participate in the smuggle and oppression of human beings - especially children. It is a complete disgusting behavoiur to engage in this type of oppression and devastation of human souls.  In my journey of myself, I am trying to get involved and become a voice for those who don’t have one…..I watched the movie Trade yesterday.

Here is the synopsis of the movie -When 13-year-old Adriana is kidnapped by sex traffickers in Mexico City, her 17-year-old brother, Jorge (Cesar Ramos), sets off on a desperate mission to save her. Trapped by an underground network of international thugs who earn millions exploiting their human cargo, Adriana’s only friend throughout her ordeal is Veronica, a young Polish woman captured by the same criminal gang. As Jorge dodges overwhelming obstacles to track the girl’s abductors, he meets Ray (Kevin Kline), a Texas cop whose own family loss leads him to become an ally. From the barrios of Mexico City and the treacherous Rio Grande border, to a secret internet sex slave auction and a tense confrontation at a stash house in suburban New Jersey, Ray and Jorge forge a close bond as they frantically pursue Adriana’s kidnappers before she is sold and disappears into a brutal underworld from which few victims ever return. Inspired by Peter Landesman’s chilling NY Times Magazine story on the U.S. sex trade, “The Girls Next Door,” TRADE is a thrilling story of courage and a devastating expose of one of the world’s most heinous crimes. The American debut of Marco Kreuzpaintner, one of Germany’s leading young directors, TRADE is produced by Roland Emmerich and Rosilyn Heller from a screenplay by Academy Award(R) nominee Jose Rivera (THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES).

I never heard about this movie, but glad I watched it now. It left me thinking and wanting to hold my daughter just that much closer. I felt a general sadness for the millions of people out there who have never been found. On the website for the movie, they listed the many organizations that are fighting to help stop human trafficking and I will list them here….get involved and help save a life, a soul, a child, a women…

401: Who I am?

I have been on a journey to figure myself out. Okay, maybe I shouldn’t say that, but I have been trying to understand who I am - what makes me tick, sing, dance, fight, love, challenge, settle, resolves - and anything else that helps me understand who I think I am…Does that make sense?

I have been reading furiously. Studying every topic of interest. Reaching within myself to understand why I feel so trapped within my own mind - not skin.  I have for one found my role model in life. I never really had one. Didn’t really see looking up to someone as important but hell bent on making my own way.  I’m so inhibited by many things and I am breaking that mold so that I can be free. My husband thinks it’s great that I am finally embarking on this journey. Our conversations have soared and in his company I feel intellectually gifted. He does that to me….he provides me the conversation I long for. To talk about things that matter and how we can together push forward in this world and make a difference. My role model is a women who I believe defines the word compassion. She also is fierce and free. She says what she thinks. She’s strong and stands up for what she believes in and does what she believes. She’s not inhibited by life…..Currently I am reading a book she wrote about her mission journies for UNHCR. The words that she writes and feels are inspiring. “Notes from My Travels” are the mission journals of Angelina Jolie. As I read about the mission trips, I feel the same helplessness she portrays when she knows she cannot immediately do something for the people but must wait until she comes back to America - comfort - to help how she can.  I will continue to follow her journies and hope to be able to assist these great organizations as well.

My journey on being meat free has been a tough one. I have slipped up about 4 times since I took the pledge to be vegetarian for 30 days. It’s hard replacing over 30 years of bad habits. Not only am I learning to change my eating habits, but I’m learning patience. I have found that you can get a great pair of shoes made out of leather alternatives at mooshoes.com.  This teaches me to save my pennies, learn about my body, and know what I wear….So this has been a good journey for me……
